Job Description:
The Controller has primary responsibility for the planning, implementation, and assisting in managing of all the finance and accounting activities of a company, including strategic business planning, monitoring aging, AP/AR, cashflow, budgeting, reporting, and timely and accurate accounting. The Controller role is also responsible to work directly with the VP of Finance/CFO.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Providing leadership, direction and some management of the finance and accounting team
• Providing strategic recommendations to the VP of Finance/CFO and members of the executive management team
• Assisting in managing the processes for month end close, setting financial forecasting and budgets, and overseeing the preparation of all financial reporting
• Monitoring aging and weekly cashflow
• Establishing and developing relations within the finance department
• Reviewing all formal accounting, finance, HR and IT related procedures
• Customer setups, credit checks and addressing issues related to sales and customers
• Approving and issuing weekly vendor payments
• Payroll processing and reporting
Job Qualifications and Requirements:
• A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Economics.
• A MBA or CPA is also highly desirable. At least 7+ years’ experience as a finance/accounting professional managing a team is a must – along with examples of demonstrated excellence in the workplace.
• A Controller must display a cohesive ability at interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and written.
• Must be able to engage with staff at all levels of the organization and exercise sound judgement.
• Must be an empathetic leader.
• Experience with various ERP’s (preferably Netsuite), GL ledgers, and relevant custom reporting.
• At least 3 years of experience with a CPG company (Food & Beverage or Other) with relevant promotions management, manufacturing, and supply chain experience is desirable.
